ID fraudsters swindle SMEs out of 31.3bn a year

Identity thieves are now targeting small businesses more frequently, according to new research by CPP, a leading provider of life assistance products and services. The report found that 100,000 businesses are losing an average of £13,500 each – that adds up to £1.3bn across the UK. CPP suggest that a fifth of UK’s businesses are vulnerable to identity theft for a variety of reasons and around a third have apparently no idea that the identity theft has taken place.
